RALEIGH, NC – Consumer Education Services Inc. (CESI) was awarded the Triangle Business Journal’s Corporate Philanthropy Award on November 11, 2020. This award celebrates the work of nonprofits and corporate citizens through philanthropy, volunteerism, board support, and corporate partnerships. The Triangle Business Journal’s award winners comprise various nonprofit entities, corporations both large and small, and individuals who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their local community.
The 2020 winners were chosen from a pool of more than 70 nominees whose applications were submitted online for consideration. “Often, the level of corporate citizenry mirrors the quality of life in our communities,” said Jason Christie, publisher of TBJ. “The Triangle area is fortunate to have so many passionate and helping nonprofits and individuals that are being guided and supported by committed companies across all industries.”
“We are particularly proud of the work we’ve done in the last year to assist low to moderate-income households with achieving their dream of owning a home,” said Mike Croxson, President and CEO of CESI. “We had one client named Doris who stands out. She is a grandmother and primary caretaker of two special-needs, severely handicapped children, and needed more space to care for them. Doris did not qualify for a home loan, but after working with her, we were able to get her qualified to purchase a home with $30,000 in down payment assistance under the CPLP Down Payment Assistance Program administered by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, along with an additional $5,000 from the Federal Home Loan Bank.
