Non-profit organization launches program to partner with Employee Assistance Programs to provide financial counseling and other services to employees across the country.

Raleigh, N.C. – Consumer Education Services, Inc. (CESI), a non-profit service provider of comprehensive personal financial education and solutions for all life stages, has launched CESI EAP Solutions, a comprehensive financial wellbeing solution for employees. Since its inception in 1998, CESI has helped hundreds of thousands of consumers nationwide improve their money management skills and experience debt-free living.

CESI EAP Solutions connects employees with the resources they need to reduce financial stress and move toward a secure financial future. In partnering with EAPs, individual employers provide CESI’s services to their employees as an employee benefit. When employees experience a financial problem, they can call their EAP provider to speak with an intake counselor, who will then connect the employee with a CESI Certified Counselor. The CESI counselor will consult with the employee using a proved methodology for a comprehensive assessment of the employee’s overall financial situation. The counselor will work with the employee to create a customized action plan that provides ongoing support. From there, depending on their situation employees may be referred to one of CESI’s many services, a few of which include credit counseling and budget assistance, the Debt Management Program, WiseTrac financial management, student loan counseling, or Assure Money Services for caregivers, older adults, and persons with disabilities. The cost to the employee of using CESI’s services varies by EAP, but the initial consultation with a counselor is always free and additional services may be provided free of charge or at a discounted rate.

A Gallup poll found that overall financial security has nearly three times the impact of income alone on employee wellbeing, and research shows that employees who are worried about their finances typically lose productivity in the workplace versus those who feel financially secure. The Gallup poll also found that only 18 percent of employees agreed that their employer provides them with resources to help manage their finances more efficiently. All of CESI’s programs are focused on behavior change and financial coaching, which according to the Personal Finance Foundation, can help reduce stress by as much as 50%. When the employee’s financial stress is lessened, his or her productivity at work increases, and both the employee and the employer benefit from the financial coaching.

EAP Solutions is the newest of CESI’s programs and services aimed at enhanced economic security for all clients. In addition to credit counseling and the services previously mentioned, CESI also offers financial education, housing counseling, bankruptcy counseling, bill payment services, and more, all of which are available to EAP clients.

CESI is a not-for-profit organization that helps consumers achieve financial freedom by offering a complete life cycle of services: debt management, housing counseling, credit counseling, financial education and pre-bankruptcy counseling.
