CESI Homeownership Center Recognized for Excellence by N.C. Housing Finance Agency and N.C. Foreclosure Prevention Fund

Not-for-profit organization receives multiple accommodations from statewide affiliations

Raleigh, NC (Oct. 9, 2012) – The counselors at the not-for-profit Consumer Education Services, Inc. (CESI) Homeownership Center work tirelessly at their jobs because they know that they’re making a difference one person at a time. During the course of a week in September, when they received four accommodations and recognitions from two statewide housing organizations, the CESI team had an opportunity to look back and appreciate the difference that they are making in the world.

The two statewide organizations that recognized CESI are the following:

North Carolina Housing Finance Agency – This self-supporting public agency has financed 206,000 homes and apartments in the last three decades, including nearly 83,000 homes for first-time home buyers. In the state home foreclosure prevention project area, CESI was awarded:

  • Certificate of Achievement for exceeding performance requirements each quarter: “Green on the Screen in all four categories for each quarter”
  • Certificate of Achievement for meeting performance requirements each quarter

N.C. Foreclosure Prevention Fund – Offered by the N.C. Housing Finance Agency, this is a self-supporting state agency that is funded through the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Hardest Hit Fund. The N.C. Foreclosure Prevention Fund operates as a separate entity under the Housing Finance Agency’s Home Protection Program. CESI was presented:

  • Certificate of Appreciation to CESI for assisting 215 homeowners secure funding
  • Certificate of Appreciation to Devine Brown of CESI for having one of the lowest file return rates for the fund Statewide

“We are very excited to have received these numerous statewide recognitions for CESI and our team,” said Sheryl Merritt, CESI Housing Program Manager. “This is the culmination of a lot of hard work and we look forward to continuing to make a difference in our community and beyond during the years ahead.”
